The Kindom

My name is Heathyre and I have a story to tell. A story about a lying knight and some desperate peasants. here is the short version. You see one upon a time, in the magical but wicked kingdom of new york there lived a family of peasants. The husband and wife had lost their jobs on the royal Cornell farm lands, though they were both hard workers. They found themselves unable to pay for basic things and they had to get help from the kingdom. They survived for a while, getting by the best they could while trying to find new jobs. The wife started studying to become a royal chef, and things looked like they might get better. The the King demanded that the poor peasants pay taxes or he would remove them from their meager home. Of course the peasants had no way to pay this tax, and even though they tried to get help nothing could be done. In a last desperate attempt to get help they called one of the kings lords who had been kind in the past. To their surprise he agreed to help them. One of the lords knights payed the tax for them, and told them they had 12 moons to pay it back. In this time the daughter of the peasants had returned from a journey she took with a bard and his friends that she had met at the market. When she saw the state of things she decided to take a job caring for the elderly subjects of the kingdom. Things were still bad but the naive peasants thought things were getting better. Over the next 7 months the amount the poor peasants owed the knight crept higher and higher,, but the daughter knew she could trust her friend the bard to help her. When the bard returned from his latest journey he returned baring the gold that the peasants needed but when they contacted the knight he told them " Oh, well I have given the parcel to another subject. I needed the gold and you didn't have it" He then explained the peasants only had 5 moons to find a new place to live. The daughters heart broke in anguish. She could not afford to help her parents, or hardly even herself on her low pay. Now I, the peasant daughter would like to ask this of you oh chivalrous knight: Are you happy that you mad a quick buck off some poor desperate people? Are you proud that you took the home I grew up in? Can you sleep at knowing that you have left my parents out in the cold?
To all those in the 99% as they call it today, this is why we must stand up and fight. I lost my home, but not my hope. Stand up and fight back.
